A Program That Can Fix Dead Pixels On Your LCD Screen.

I found this two programs that helps to locate and fix LCD screens dead pixels. You can move flash zone with cursor and select color by right clicking on the flash area.

The first is called UDPixel, created by Samuel Larché and it’s free.

It works on windows Vista, XP and 2000. There is a Pocket PC version too.

You need also the .NET Framework Version 2.0

JScreenFix is a free software solution that can fix stuck pixels, reduce screen burn-in and improve the quality of images displayed on a screen.
JScreenFix is a Java applet that randomly turns on and off every colour component on the screen at up to 60 times a second. and because it is a Java applet it will run on almost anything.

Could someone please explain exactly what is the difference between a DEAD and a STUCK pixel?

I have a pixel that shows only green and blue, and the red part is always black (dead-green-blue)
:)
Is there a chance?
easy
By Limbo, Date: 18/06/2007
Dead pixel: Black dot. No light on it. Dead.
Stick pixel: White, or colored dots.

I love how mac users get accused of being fanatics and yet it's always the PC users going on the offensive.
Doh!

Ran this for 12 hours and it did nothing for the dozens of black pixels on my screen....wiped the screen down with a damp cloth and BAM! all better.
UDPixel - No multiple monitor support
By X-Cubed, Date: 18/06/2007
Only seems to run on the primary monitor. You're screwed if you have a dual monitor setup with dead pixels on the secondary monitor.
Curious
By ..., Date: 18/06/2007
Couldn't you just briefly set the secondary monitor the your primary one to run the program?...
How about on a Nintendo DS lite?
By Alvahoke, Date: 18/06/2007
I'll have to test this with its browser app when I get home. :)

Fix with a flick of finger
By Aaron, Date: 18/06/2007
I had a green pixel which I flicked with my thumb and forfinger, and it disappeared off the screen. Funny because I did it out of pure instinct; no rational problem solving. Sort of like how people used to whap a TV on the side and it would always clear up a picture.
DS?
By Stefan, Date: 18/06/2007
Herm... I have a DS that has a stuck blue pixel on it, I wonder if there's any way I could get this to run on it...

You rub on dead pixels and to the x and y axis of it as well. It will get rid of it if you run right.
Fix with the Force of the Hand
By Daniel, Date: 18/06/2007
A dead pixel appeared on my Samsung 940N a few days ago. I was really p*ssed, thinking about how I should proceed and how frustrating the replacement will be. In this mood I angrily pressed that pixel with my finger - and it DISAPPEARED. First I was shocked, then surprised, then happy :)
It worked
By Karlo, Date: 18/06/2007
It worked on my IBM/Lenovo T60 with one dead pixel.

By Bong, Date: 18/06/2007
What about for linux? Why don't they just make a java applet for it so that it could just be platform independent?
WTF? Just press..
By hp, Date: 18/06/2007
..your finger on the dead pixel at your display, and voila.. doesnt work? just press a nit harder .. and no shitty DotNet2 needed..

Switch Monitors
By Taz Devil, Date: 18/06/2007
@X-Cubed
Switch over to your main monitor or if you are running windows alter the setting so that it is the primary monitor. ??????

No need to spam is there.. I've used this program a while ago, it works great, although as mentioned only with pixels that are STUCK and not DEAD.
Not bad..
By Stan, Date: 18/06/2007
Tried it on my new IBM laptop.. with a white dead pixel.. hmm it kinda work.. but still a funny shade. Had some luck with this www.killdeadpixel.com It managed to fix another earlier dead pixel but not the white one.
Amazing

Applet for Linux, Mac, Second Monitor
By lux, Date: 18/06/2007

Just scroll down, its right there... an applet you can move anywhere on either of your screens under any OS.
Hopefully this will work....
By Rob, Date: 19/06/2007
I like how this one is actually free, vs the JScreenFix(the offline version)... I will run this in the background over the stuck pixel and hopefully it will get fixed!!! (and if it does i will donate a good bit :p)
Other way round
By byrongeorge, Date: 19/06/2007

If it's bring dead pixels back to life, does that mean I'll have zombie pixels?
yes
By zied, Date: 21/06/2007
I have had 2 red pixels for quite a while on my monitor, ran the app for about 30 mins no real change. Then saw you guys mention 'massaging' it. I gently rubbed near the stuck pixels and they were fixed. huzzah!
...
By z, Date: 21/06/2007
I tried these types of programs before, but it won't fix my pink-purplish pixel. I guess it's because that color means there are two colors that are screwed up simultaneously...
only fix stuck pixels
By slacker, Date: 21/06/2007
Just to be clear this will only fix stuck pixels. It will NOT fix dead pixels (as they are exactly what they're called, dead) or Hot pixels. Dead pixels are usually black, Hot pixels are usually white or red. At any rate, a much better way to fix them is to take a wet q-tip and just gently rub the pixel for about 10 seconds, then press on it lightly for 10 to 20 seconds.
NO NEED FOR THIS!!!
By Mongre, Date: 03/07/2007
Take a point of anything that will not cut in your screen (smooth, plastic, etc)

Press the object against the dead pixel, do not push too hard as to damage the screen (duh)

Turn off and then on your monitor. Viola. Your problem should be solved.

It's caused because each pixel has an element that becomes charged when the monitor turns on. When the path between pixels becomes blocked you get a dead pixel. Agitating the liquid in the pixel does the trick almost every time.
Q-TIP!!!!
By zwar, Date: 04/07/2007
the wet q-tip did it for me, i massaged it for 10-20 sec then applied pressure on it for another 10 sec, turned the monitor and back on, at that point the pixel was flickering, so i just touched it with my finger and it went away...thx for the tip...q-tip that is...haha i just had to say it
No luck for me
By agutsakias, Date: 15/07/2007
I have a red dot on my screen that becames visible on black and blue wallpapers. I tried the q-tip by pushing and rubbing and it didn't work and i tried the Undeadpixel with no luck again. But i've seen it works for a friend of mine.
Zombies

My dead pixels came to life again but now when I listen closely to the screen with my ear, I hear them say "Brains, brains..."
nothing works
By alon, Date: 24/07/2007
nothing works
tried massaging, tapping, pressing, 4 types of programs, and the little red dot is still there
This works i think..
By stanley, Date: 29/07/2007
Try this site: www.killdeadpixel.com .. it worked i think.. or thats what my brother told me.. he fixed his lcd dead pixel back to live using that..
Try this one too
By Lurker, Date: 18/09/2007
I found another alternative to this. You can try http://lcd-monitors-fix.ws43.com
How I got it to work
By Nick, Date: 21/09/2007
I used the applet and another program and then cam accross this one. They all work the same... Finally, I placed this over the pixel and ran it. As it was running I gently pressed near (just below) the pixel and watched the pixel as the application ran. I noticed that if I pressed firmly enough that the pixel would blend into the background and appeared to be fixed. I maintained pressure for about 5-10s and then removed pressure and the pixel appeared to be fixed. I had to do this a couple times as the pixel wanted to come back to its red state but now after about 10min it is still gone. Thanks to all who posted here. I can confirm that the combination of sonsistent firm pressure and this program seems ot help make this go away.
Other uses
By Roger, Date: 26/09/2007
I was wondering if you can use the program to refresh the overall color quality of the monitor. Since alot the graphics cards drivers are load in the initial configuration of any computers, can it reallocate memory to make look like the monitor is new.
Use pressure
By Yee, Date: 21/10/2007
Finally it worked! Really, people should just apply pressure to their dead pixel though. Mine was on the very edge of my screen so I had trouble pressing against it so I was forced to use my fingernail.
Pressure trick works !
By Vishal, Date: 04/11/2007
The program did not help.... but the pressure trick in the comments did! Using Samsung Synchmaster 931BF
Impressive.!
By mastahboten, Date: 23/11/2007
I was about to return my AOC 193FW 19" because of this thingy annoying blue dot in my screen but it came accross this very helpful software that i run only for 5 mins. Booom! its gone. THANK u very much!
Hot pixel
By Vampiro, Date: 27/11/2007
Does the program repairs hot (is it the same as stuck?) pixel?
I think it's hot pixel
By Vampiro, Date: 27/11/2007
I think it's a hot pixel because i can only see it in black, grey or dark blue backgrounds
Funny story
By Mihic, Date: 30/11/2007
I have a N95, which strted to have a few pixels dead in a group, more than 30 for sure, but it's funny cause, thery black on if the backlight is on, but when it turns of, the colors are right there, and these UNfixable dead pixels seem to vary where they are and some r gone there r soem new... I'm running a Jscreeenfix middlet on it, and... not much effect, but it seem there are a few less of them, nad masaging didn't work, makes em dissapper or make a few surrounding pixels white for a moment but thats it... any word about this?
