City located in the North-East of Tunisia, principal port and capital of the Republic Of Tunisia. It is located at 60 km at the south of Bizert and 90 km northern of Hammamet. Approximately 1.600.000 inhabitants, holds more than 10% of the total population of the country

History: |
Punic city, the antique Tunes kept Carthage, they are the phenicians who melted carthage, and they is the Romans who destroy it (146 av.JC). After the Arab conquest of carthage at the end of VII'th century, Tunis is developed and becomes economic capital of Ifrikya. Resided by the Hafsides between 1229 and 1574: The city gave its name to the kingdom of Tunis. In 1881 Tunis Taken by French, the modern city was built during French colonization, and has known then an economic, commercial and industrial expansion. Then occupied by the Germans from November 1942 to May 1943. Tunis became the capital of independent Tunisia, in 1956. Since 1979, Tunis is the seat of the Arabic league
